About...

When I was three or four years old my big brother learned to read. He learned to read exceptionally well (a feat that I am pleased to say I also achieved a couple of years later) for his age, and being NSW public school of the mid-80's this was achieved through phonetics.

One day my mother was hovering around doing the gazillion things that stay at home super mums did back then when she overheard my brother reading to me from the Sesame Street library.
"Fear not Penlop!" he read.
Well who was to know how to read that 'e'?

That little story, though not particularly special to anyone but myself and and family, has resonated with me for a long time. It reminds me that I have always loved books and stories, it reminds me of how much I love my big brother who has always been there to reassure me, and it speaks to me the most now that I am a mother, of the laughter and joy our babies bring into our world.

This blog is a letter to myself about life, my fears and triumphs and the things that bring me joy; books, crafts, recipes and cooking, films, my lovely son and my amazing husband.

I hope my reflections can bring you some joy as well.
